Punish Jason Gentry for Animal Abuse and Killing Puppies

The Issue

On November 22, 2014, two (2) deceased 20-week old puppies were discovered in a trash bag behind a Revere, MA gas station. On July 28, 2015 Jason Gentry with address listings in Swampscott, MA and Salem, MA was arraigned at Chelsea District Court on charges of animal cruelty as well as the malicious killing of these two puppies that had been in his care at Alpha Canine Performance Center located in Lynn, MA.  Jason Gentry is reported to have told the police that the dogs were hung because they did not fit the standards of an invented breed used for protection known as the Donovan Pinscher.

This was Jason Gentry's second court appearance in a matter of a week pertaining to animal abuse. He also appeared at Lynn District Court to face charges after his dog training facility, Alpha Canine Performance Center, was raided by the Lynn Police Department. Investigators found five extremely aggressive dogs being kept in deplorable conditions of stale urine and feces. Jason Gentry is also being questioned regarding the death of a third dog by the name of Wotan, which was allegedly hung for 15 minutes by a capture pole and shipped to its owner deceased. In this case Jason Gentry was charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty and one count of operating an unlicensed kennel.

Given that this man has two (2) open cases of animal abuse charges against him, charges that involves the death of three dogs, it is safe to say that Jason Gentry has no regard for the welfare of any animal in his care. This is also a man who has shown enough disdain for the law that he even has the audacity to make obscene gestures to concerned public citizens while leaving a courtroom with his lawyer by his side.

While he can't be charged with having an unsuitable character, we the undersigned implore that the District Attorneys’ offices pursue these cases against Jason Gentry with vehemence. We request that Jason Gentry be prosecuted pursuant to the new Puppy Doe bill (S. 2345: An Act Protecting Animal Welfare and Safety, under M.G.L. c. 272 § 77).
