We do not want to lose our 3 specialist speech and language units. We would like to see them run alongside a new outreach service for speech and language, not either or. Children with severe speech and language disorders need these valuable services which support them with not only intensive speech therapy but their mental health with teaching staff that are highly specialist and experienced. The units have been proven to be effective for decades and without them so many families would not have the happy confident children they have today.
