Friedkin is not a Christian of any denomination. Though inspired by actual events, the fictional novel by William Peter Blatty changed several details, such as turning the gender of the allegedly possessed victim from a boy into a girl as well as changing the alleged victim s age. Chris has no faith, referring to priests as witch-doctors when the idea of an exorcism is first floated. Morgan Creek, current owner of the franchise, is now negotiating a cable television mini-series of Blatty s novel, which is the basis for the original film. Jason Miller reprised his Academy Award-nominated role in The Exorcist for this film. This was only the third credited role for this young actress, and it catapulted her to fame.
