Study OMNYRC — One Metro NY Roller Coaster transit, a skyline metro for New York
The Issue
To: The People, The Governor of New York State, Mayor of New York City, MTA Chair and Board and DOB
We, the undersigned, ask New York's leaders to authorize a serious study of omnyrc, a silent, electric, OMNY-tapped transit line in the sky.
New York builds up because we are out of ground. Our proposal connects three of Manhattan's densest commutes using existing air rights:
Downtown Station — perched at the top of the big loop over the Financial District, with direct transfers to 10+ subway lines, PATH, and ferries
Midtown Station — sitting on the crest above Midtown, just off the Empire State Building spine so the track can hit Hudson Yards on the next pass and circle around it
Central Park Tower Station — on the peak before the big drop toward uptown, anchored to Central Park Tower, the tallest tower on that side, with park views and zero street footprint
This is transit first, tourism second. An express fare skyline ride for visitors helps fund OMNY fares for commuters. It takes an estimated 15,000+ daily riders off the Lexington and 8th Ave lines, creates construction and operations jobs, and delivers a 9-minute end-to-end connection with zero new street lanes.
Our demands:
Authorize a joint State-City-MTA feasibility study within FY 2026, with engineering, environmental, noise, wind, and economic analysis released publicly
Hold public hearings in the Financial District, Midtown, and Central Park South, with community boards, disability advocates, and transit workers at the table from day one
Integrate with OMNY fares and publish enforceable safety and noise standards
Explore a pilot link between Downtown and Midtown as proof of concept
We are not asking for a shovel. We are asking for a study. If the numbers do not work, we do not build. If they do, New York leads again.
Hold on tight and sign if you want transit that is useful and unforgettable.
Have a good day/night.
