Stand With YAF—GNP Controversy

The Issue

It was only a matter of time before members of our group, Young Americans for Freedom at the University of Tennessee, were publicly condemned for questioning the university's suggested gender-neutral pronoun policy.

"Bigot, insensitive freak, and intolerant" are just some of the words that have been used to describe those of us who have refused to join the supposed "academic elite" to address transgender students as ze, hir, hirs, zhee, etc.

In fact, the President of the Central Program Council—one that oversees the university's $500,000 program budget—took to Twitter to smear and denounce the group. According to the president, YAF members are marginalizing the campus community by being "insensitive bigots".

So much for the open exchange of ideas. The campus' reaction reaffirms YAF's original statement: "Welcoming to all and hostile to none—unless of course you have a more traditional view of the world. In that case, your opinions and views are automatically condemned—and your character and integrity are belittled."

This is another unfortunate reminder that the left's concept of "diversity" never includes the beliefs of conservatives. Will you stand with YAF as we fight this battle?
