Keep Food Studies at Ohio University!

Keep Food Studies at Ohio University!
The Issue
The Food Studies Program and Dr. Theresa Moran, the director, have been eliminated from Ohio University effective May 15, 2020. This College of Arts and Sciences decision was “lack of budget stream.” Showing that students want to have Food Studies courses is the way to keep Food Studies at OU.
Dr. Moran started Food Studies in 2014 and the program has become vital to sustainability and experiential learning at Ohio University. Please sign this petition to show your support for the continuation of OU Food Studies program.
Now more than ever with the COVID pandemic, we need to learn and to think about the food we eat, where it comes from, and how our food choices affect us, our community and the world. And Food Studies has proved to be a great way to bring students from all disciplines together in the classroom to study how what we put on our plate affects all aspects of our lives and our planet.
Dr. Moran has been at OU for 17 years. She has just been promoted to PBIO Associate Professor of Instruction and her contract is still being terminated. She is a critical member of our local community and has worked hard to promote our Athens food system.
Food Studies and Dr. Moran are vital to the success of sustainability and experiential learning at Ohio University. Please sign this petition to show your support for the continuation of this program.
