Compass Group is the foodservice provider for my school, Cal Poly Humboldt. Although Compass Group was one of the first companies to adopt the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC)--a set of animal welfare standards aimed at improving how chickens are raised for meat--Compass has done little to show customers how they actually plan to fulfill these promises. Additionally, Compass Group continues to support the cruel crating of mama pigs throughout multiple pregnancies. Compass Group needs to follow in the footsteps of the many businesses that have already made meaningful progress toward fulfilling and reporting on their own animal welfare commitments.
