On February 26, 2015, an event will take place at Loyola University Chicago's Lakeshore campus called, "A Woman's Intifada: The Story of Rasmea Odeh." This event will celebrate the life and actions of convicted terrorist Rasmea Odeh.

In 1969, Rasmea Odeh was responsible for the bombing of a crowded Jerusalem supermarket. Two Israeli university students, Leon Kanner (21) and Eddie Joffe (22) were killed and nine others were seriously injured. Four days later, Odeh took part in the bombing of the Israeli British Consulate. Odeh confessed to the crime, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for terrorism.

In 1980, Odeh and seventy-eight other convicted criminals were released from Israeli prison as part of an exchange for a single captured Israeli soldier.

Odeh entered the U.S. from Jordan in 1985, omitting the terrorism conviction from her immigration application. On November 10, 2014 a federal jury in Detroit returned a guilty verdict against Rasmea Odeh for illegally procuring naturalization. On March 10, 2015, Odeh will be sentenced for immigration fraud.

The event on Loyola's campus, funded by the Student Activities Fund, will bring Nesreen Hasan, a member of Odeh's defense team to speak about Rasmea's defense and the perceived unfairness of her conviction. The event ignores the fact that Rasmea Odeh is a convicted terrorist responsible for the murder of two people.

All students contribute to the Student Activities Fund with fees. Money from the Student Activities Fund is being paid to a member of Rasmea Odeh's defense team; student dollars are being used to support a convicted terrorist. Bringing this event to Loyola's campus is a gross misuse of Student Activity Funds and will only blemish Loyola's reputation as a University committed to social justice. This event, as well as the terrorism enacted by Rasmea Odeh should be denounced by Loyola's students, faculty and administration.
