Strip Tom Aspinall of the UFC Heavyweight Championship belt
The Issue
Strip Tom Aspinall of the UFC Heavyweight Title Due to Inactivity
Tom Aspinall is currently the UFC heavyweight champion but has not won a fight in two years.
Meanwhile, the division is moving on; there is a clear interim champion in Ciryl Gane, who is on track to defend his interim belt against top contenders like Josh Hokit or Alex Pereira. Gane is ready and willing to fight, but Tom refuses to step into the cage, claiming he cannot see.
As fans, we must let Dana White know: It is time to strip Tom Aspinall of the heavyweight title. He clearly has no intention of fighting anytime soon.
In recent months, the MMA community has received endless conflicting stories from Tom's camp:
• One moment he claims he is medically cleared and back in camp, but the next he says he is still unable to see or properly interact with his family.
• He was rumored to appear on major upcoming cards (Like UFC Freedom), only to suddenly pull back and claim he cannot step into the gym despite even Dana himself saying he wanted Tom that day.
• He states that his vision is too impaired to drive or socialize, yet he regularly posts YouTube videos juggling a soccer ball, moving around, and training. More over his manager saying he may even leave for boxing while Tom saying he's still in.
Tom has run the fans around long enough. This ongoing confusion is threatening the integrity of the heavyweight division. Plenty of hungry prospects are rising through the rankings, and historically, other great fighters have gracefully vacated their belts when facing a year-long+ layoff. It is time for Tom to do the same.
Sign this petition to tell Dana White and the UFC: Strip Tom Aspinall and restore the heavyweight division!
