Misogyny and bigotry have NO place in ANY sport, especially one which has had a history and culture tainted by egregious acts like sexual and domestic violence. The field of athletics should be sanctified as a bastion of sportsmanship, unity, and respect.

It is a domain where athletes are role models, icons whose behavior extends beyond the game, influencing countless lives that look up to them. Unfortunately, recent events have surfaced, revealing the immoral and ethically questionable behavior of some members of the United States Men’s Hockey Team. This behavior is not only disappointing but utterly unacceptable.

Recent instances of misogynistic and bigoted conduct exhibited by team members cast a dark shadow over what should be celebrated as an exemplar of sports achievement. Recent videos have shown us with our own eyes what we have always known to be true; Hockey, a sport followed and adored by millions, has historically been underscored by occurrences of violence, both on and off the rink.

The conduct of this team, ranging from misogynistic jokes, belittling teammates or rivals based on gender, race, or other identities, emotionally abusive behavior, and objectionable locker room antics should NOT be overlooked. Such behavior impacts not only teammates but the culture of the sport as a whole, reinforcing harmful stereotypes and creating an environment of exclusion and fear.

Seeing these “men” sing the national anthem from a Miami strip club is the FINAL STRAW. They have betrayed this nation and ruined the legacy of not only the current Olympic Team, but also the “Dream” team of 1980.

To uphold the true spirit of the Olympics, an event symbolizing unity, excellence, and fair play, it is imperative that action is taken. Stripping the team of their gold medals might be a drastic measure, but it sends a clear message that this behavior will not be tolerated. It tells current and future athletes that their conduct, integrity, and respect for others are a prerequisite to being honored as champions. 

Let us hold our champions accountable and ensure that the stage of international sports is graced only by those who exhibit exemplary behavior, both inside and outside the arena. Sign this petition to urge the relevant authorities to take action and strip the U.S. Men's Hockey Team of their Gold Medals. Demand accountability and stand with us in fostering a culture where respect, equality, and dignity reign supreme in sports and beyond.

Please join me in signing this petition to the Olympic Committee (Association of International Winter Olympic Sports Federations - will be tagged when we hit our goal) MUST “STRIP” these athletes, the men who have participated in this shameful behavior, of their Olympic medals.

We must send a message in response to their clearly blatant choice to double down on their misogyny: WE ARE NO LONGER GOING TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO BLATANT MISOGYNY AND BIGOTRY.
