Strengthen Laws for Protecting Hinduism from External Threats and Interference

The Issue

As a practicing Hindu, I find it deeply unsettling that a religion known for its tolerance is having to grapple with unasked-for suppression, especially in its own birthplace. This feels like a systematic denial of our religious freedom. It doesn't sit well with me, and I'm sure it bothers many others as well. Hinduism, which accommodates and respects a vast array of diverse practices, philosophies, and beliefs, is under ever-increasing external threats and interference.

According to Pew Research Center, India has experienced an upswing in social hostilities involving religion, with there being major religious groups in the country feeling targeted or suppressed. Hinduism, being one of the major religions, faces a similar fate. The need of the hour is for stringent laws that protect and uphold the sanctity of Hinduism, similar to the protections afforded to other religions in various parts of the world.

Stronger laws would ensure that Hindus can practice their faith freely without fearing external threats or interference. We advocate changes that provide the same degree of protection to Hinduism as that provided to other religions. This would reinforce the long-standing Indian principle of 'Sarva Dharma Sama Bhava' – all religions are equal. We ask the government to demonstrate its commitment to this tenet by implementing laws upholding the rights of Hindus to practice their religion without interference and threat.

Please join us in our fight to protect Hinduism. It's not just about one religion but about upholding the principles of religious freedom that are the bedrock of any democratic society. Your support could make a meaningful difference. Sign this petition today.
