Story of a Blind and disabled dog mom who is trying to save her service dog

The Issue

Manny is a charming and beautiful,120 Service Dog. Besides helping his “mom” and keeping her in good humor, Manny is a well-known do-gooder in the community.  of The SDS for dogs and cats, animals. Most of all, Manny and her mom help the community understand the role of a Service Dog and what they can do for their handler. Manny is impeccably trained and has earned all three medals  She also had been selected to test for Therapy Dog before he became ill. manny is so humorous  who likes to dress her in hats and silly costumes.

And now…..Manny has cancer. Her mom took her to Alepone Veterinary Hospital on to have 7 fast growing skin lumps removed. Surgery went well but later the sites began bleeding heavily and they could not get them to stop. Her surgeon, Doctor Smith drove Manny to the STS Veterinary Specialists Emergency folks. They worked hard to get the bleeding under control, gave her medications and a blood transfusion. Meanwhile the biopsies came back and 6 of the masses were cancer.  This news crushed her mom who loves Manny beyond words.

Manny has Hemangiosarcoma. This is very dark news, but the bright spot is it has not affected her organs so far. The cancer is why the wounds bled as well as why Manny had been so tired lately. But luckily  her mom met with the wonderful Doctor jessy, at the STS vet.  A treatment plan was started with lots of medications and chemotherapy.   All the pills and capsules are concealed with spray cheese so Manny thinks they are treats!

Manny is going to continue to document her cancer journey on the vet with her typical snarky and silly sense of humor. Needless to say, being blind her mom is extremely worried about her perfect little angel, how to manage without a Service Dog, and paying all the mounting the vet bills.

It took several friends and officials of SDS to talk Manny's stubborn (and proud) mom into allowing us to set up this Fundraising petition. Manny's mom is a 74 y.o. bind woman on a very fixed income and she did not want to ask for help, but the bills are already at $2700 and with each treatment it will just make that total go higher.  Whatever you can contribute will mean so much to this dynamic duo.  Thank you so much for your support...
