there was a meeting held on monday of last week on Lewin rd, at the chapel - a lot of interesting questions were raised and lot more issues too..

We have until 8 April to comment on the proposal to build 4 tower blocks - link is on Linktree in out bio! Objection grounds include-
The proposed tower blocks are bulky and disproportionate to other buildings in the low-rise, low-density residential neighbourhood. The 4 tower blocks in the plan, including one 14 storeys high, would loom over neighbouring properties on Woodgate Drive, Glenister Park Road and Ellison Road and directly overlook, overshadow, and create a sense of enclosure, breaching design polices in the Local Plan.
Annex 10 of the Local Plan lists the areas considered to be suitable for tall buildings. Streatham Vale is not included.
The views west and south west from Streatham Common are designated protected panoramic views under Policy Q25 of the Local Plan. This designation requires the council to "seek to protect their general composition and character from harm". These prominent and intrusive tower blocks would damage this locally-treasured panoramic view and the plan is therefore not compatible with its protection.
The proposal is to squeeze 258 homes onto a small site, in an extremely high density within a low-density neighbourhood. The number of homes proposed would result in around 500-700 new residents, with no parking spaces in an area already under high parking stress. Policy T6 in the Local Plan says development proposals "should avoid reliance on the public highway to meet the parking requirements of development" and this application will inevitably result in additional vehicles parking on the surrounding roads. Adding 500-700 additional residents without any extra health service or school place capacity will only make access to these services in the area even worse.
The overdevelopment proposed will put unacceptable pressure on services at Streatham Common Station.
The plans do not deliver enough affordable homes that the area needs. only 56 of thr flats are for affordable rent.
