Support the much needed Supreme Court Order from Suo Moto Writ Petition (C) No. 5 of 2025 -

The Supreme Court has recently passed a much needed and balanced order that we all understand and support with an open mind, including animal lovers and activists. It aims to tackle a complex societal problem and balance public safety with animal welfare. It strives to uphold the Constitution, guaranteeing our Right to Life and Personal Liberty as per Article 21 and also to protect the stray dogs as well as the other animals being harassed and killed by stray dogs, avoiding human-animal conflict, road accidents, public health concerns, deaths, and destruction of property.

The order mandates the establishment of proper shelters for stray dogs and stresses that local authorities must effectively implement scientifically proven methods for population control and disease prevention, such as sterilization/neutering and vaccination programs. This aligns with the guidelines set by the Animal Welfare Board of India.
