The Issue
Mae'r hanes o droseddau rhywiol Neil Foden yn un sy’n creithio drwy gymunedau a theuluoedd sy’n ymwneud â’r dioddefwyr. Neil Foden cafwyd yn euog o 19 o droseddau rhywiol erchyll yn erbyn pedair merch. Mae’r ddioddefwraig a’u teuluoedd wedi wynebu torcalon aruthrol ac mae’r cymunedau wedi dioddef o ganlyniad i’r digwyddiadau erchyll hyn.
Yn sgil hyn, rydym yn galw ar S4C i ailystyried cynhyrchu a darlledu'r ddrama 'Y Pennaeth'. Mae'r broses o ail-fyw'r digwyddiadau hyn mewn ffordd artistig yn y cyfryngau, heb os, yn peryglu agor clwyfau parhaus a gall ychwanegu at y tlodi emosiynol a'r dicter a brofir gan y rhai a ddioddefodd. Perygl hyn i beri gofid diangen i’r rhai a gollodd eu niwedwyr fel bod anghenion dioddefwyr yn darostwng mewn favor i ysgogiadau masnachol a chreadigol.
Gall y rhaglen hon gynnig cynnwys defnyddiol i rai, ond ni ddylid gwthio ymlaen heb ystyried canlyniadau cymdeithasol ac effaith seicolegol y ddioddefwraig. Ystyriwch hefyd natur niweidiol y straeon sydd yn darlledu troseddau mor bortreadol, sydd â’r gallu i achosi gofid ychwanegol nid yn unig i'r dioddefwyr uniongyrchol, ond hefyd i'r cymunedau ehangach.
Rydym yn deall bod S4C fel darlledwr yn hyfforddi mewn cynhyrchu cynnwys unigryw ac amrywiol i’r genedl Gymreig. Fodd bynnag, credwn fod yn rhaid i effaith anhraethol deuluoedd a gymunedau fod yn flaenoriaethau uchaf wrth lunio unrhyw fath o gynnwys sy'n tynnu sylw at droseddau o'r fath.
O'n safbwynt ni, ystyried gofid seicolegol a lles ein cymunedau sy'n bwysicach na chanlyn arian neu bwyntiau cynhyrchu. Gofynnwn yn gryf i S4C sefyll dros y dioddefwyr ac i atal y cynhyrchiad o 'Y Pennaeth' cyn ei ddarlledu.
Llofnodwch y ddeiseb hon i helpu atal cynhyrchiad a allai niweidio pe pellach dioddefwyr a’u cymunedau ddim ond achosi gofid diangen.
The story of Neil Foden's sexual crimes is one that scars communities and families involved with the victims. Neil Foden was found guilty of 19 horrific sexual offenses against four women. The victim and their families have faced immense heartbreak and the communities have suffered as a result of these horrific events.
As a result, we are calling on S4C to reconsider the production and broadcasting of the drama 'Y Pennaeth'. The process of reliving these events in an artistic way in the media undoubtedly risks opening lasting wounds and can add to the emotional poverty and anger experienced by those who suffered. This risks causing unnecessary distress to those who lost their loved ones so that the needs of victims are subordinated in favor of commercial and creative impulses.
This program may offer useful content to some, but it should not be pushed forward without considering the social consequences and the psychological impact of the victim. Consider also the harmful nature of the stories that broadcast such descriptive crimes, which have the ability to cause additional distress not only to the immediate victims, but also to the wider communities.
We understand that S4C as a broadcaster trains in the production of unique and diverse content for the Welsh nation. However, we believe that the unspeakable impact of families and communities must be top priorities when creating any type of content that draws attention to such crimes.
From our point of view, considering psychological distress and the well-being of our communities is more important than following money or production points. We strongly ask S4C to stand up for the victims and to stop the production of 'Y Pennaeth' before it is broadcasted.
Sign this petition to help stop a production that could further harm victims and their communities and only cause unnecessary distress.
