Youtube has been "cracking down" when it comes to Family Plans. According to Youtube having your account under the Family Managers profile is not enough to be under the family plan, in fact if a profile does not match the location of the Family Managers they will turn off your specific profiles benefits. This essentially means the Family Manager is paying full price despite a subscription being removed from a family member. Even more disturbingly it means they are tracking everywhere people go without their knowledge, often written in the smallest print so not everyone can see it and that can be considered a major privacy violation.

Family members can often travel whether that is for work or any other reason meaning they cannot have one "stable" location where everyone is under the same roof creating a prime environment for Youtube to profit off promoting advertisements to people with a family plan since there is no change in costs once one account loses benefits.

This petition is to allow us to have not only our privacy back but our benefits too.

The solution to this is by having Youtube send an email to the Family Manager minimum of once a month to confirm that those accounts are still under the same Family Plan or if things have changed. This allows family members who travel often, temporarily or permanently live away from home to ensure they keep their benefits. The Family Manager can also receive a code from Youtube they can send to their family members to confirm the accounts are still being used on their current devices/confirming what devices are still logged into Youtube. We will also accept the maximum family plan capacity to be 6 people and we want all of the current premium plans to stay at the current payment rate and not a cent higher.

Youtube you are a multibillion dollar company and keep squeezing money out of us at any chance you get and we are tired of it. Paying for premium benefits makes sense and if we want premium benefits we will pay for them but increasing prices, changing requirements so you get more money is ridiculous.

This solution means no password sharing needed, individual account usage, using Family Manager check ins, monthly verification code to ensure all accounts are secure and that family members who do not live under the same roof can keep their benefits.

As families we want to stay connected with each other under the same plan even if we are not in the same household.
