The Issue

As a dedicated content creator on YouTube, I have invested significant time, energy, and passion into building a loyal audience. However, recent policy changes and technological shortcomings are making this journey increasingly difficult and disheartening for small creators like me.

YouTube's new requirement for monetization mandating 10 million Shorts views within just 90 days is an insurmountable hurdle for most content creators, particularly those of us who are trying to make an entry into the digital market. This criterion not only elevates stress among creators but also disproportionately favors already established channels or those with abundant resources to reach such astronomical numbers. This is an egregious example of creating a playing field that is anything but level, pushing smaller creators to the sidelines.

In addition, the AI verification systems that YouTube employs are not only ageist but also ineffective. While younger creators may find ways to navigate these systems, older creators who grew up in a different tech landscape find themselves at a disadvantage. Moreover, these flawed AI systems frequently fail to detect and prevent harmful content from cyber terrorists; they manage to slip through the cracks undetected, while genuine content creators face unwarranted scrutiny. This blatant failure potentially endangers countless users who rely on the platform for safe and trustworthy entertainment or information.

Also they change the guidelines at the most random times for the dumbest reasons. YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has stated many times that they are looking into issues like cyber crimes and blatant terrorism yet those psychopaths still roam free, also YouTube never gives an actual answer and instead relies on AI to clarify their “progress” but nothing actually happens and they’ve also stated many times that they are trying to cut down on the AI but only just make it worse for everyone including themselves!

We are calling on YouTube to amend these harsh and unfair policies. We urge the platform to revise its monetization requirements to make them more attainable for smaller, independent creators. We also demand that YouTube improve their AI verification systems to effectively combat unlawful activities while ensuring fairness for all age groups.
