MiHoYo, otherwise known as Hoyoverse, is a multi-billionaire Chinese company that has created worldwide popular games such as Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd, etc.

Information

They have created characters inspired by people with dark-skinned backgrounds, such as Genshin Impact's Natlan characters inspired by Indigenous American and West African cultures, but instead of having their skin color show appreciation to the inspired cultures, MiHoYo has decided to whitewash them.

Excuses

MiHoYo should not be protected by the excuse of it being a Chinese game and controlled by the Chinese Government. They need to start appreciating colored skin and stop whitewashing them. The closest they have ever gotten is tanned skin such as characters like Cyno, Dehya, Xinyan (from Genshin), and Arlan (from Honkai: Star Rail). 

Personal Story

I have been playing this game (Genshin, Honkai: Star Rail, etc.) since release and had many friends of color from school, work, etc. Seeing the developer of my favorite games whitewash people inspired by the people my friends of color came from. I think MiHoYo (of Hoyoverse) should act up and start showing appreciation instead of ignoring their cultures.
