Our petition put the spotlight on the need for maintaining/expanding good, quality community healthcare facilities on the south side of Atlanta, GA. Several Atlanta media outlets responded to this petition and carried our story to the public. The city's mayor and the governor kicked into action to provide additional funding to the one remaining Level 1 Trauma hospital (Grady) in the metro Atlanta area. In addition, we also gained attention and action for at least 2 of our neighborhood medical centers: Wellstar Hospital East Point is getting additional emergency room funding, and Wellstar Princeton Lakes decided not to move and is now keeping all of their facilities in that complex open (although, some PCPs secured new jobs prior to Wellstar's final decision to stay). At the end of the day, progress has been made! Thanks to all petition supporters and boots on the ground participants - specifically my neighbor, Mr. Reshard Snellings, who acted as our media spokesperson.
