Stop War in Sudan and Bring Peace Now

Stop War in Sudan and Bring Peace Now
The Issue
Urgent petition: Call for solidarity with Sudanese citizens and civil society organisations: Stop War in Sudan and Bring Peace Now!
This petition has been created by a volunteer group called مساندة السودان or Mosanadat Alsudan (helping Sudan: a group of Sudanese in Sudan and abroad)
Despite four years of peaceful protest calling for freedom, peace, justice and equality by brave Sudanese citizens, conflict erupted in Sudan's capital Khartoum on Saturday, 15 April 2023 between ruling military factions Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and paramilitary aka 'Janjaweed' Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Students, teachers, and patients in hospitals and schools located close to the SAF and RSF bases are trapped and no effort is being made by the warring parties to create safe corridors that would enable them to reunite with their relatives.
Medical professionals are being sought out in their homes and executed for performing lifesaving duties, targeted by armed forces. Medicine is in short supply and access to urgent medications such as for treatment of chronic and lifesaving illnesses is nearly impossible.
Horrific atrocities against civilians are being reported throughout Sudan and death tolls are rising daily in Northern state, Darfur: Nyala, El Fashir, Zalingey, El Geneina, El Obeid, Port Sudan and Kordofan states. Casualties are not limited to civilians alone as reports show three UN aid workers were killed in Darfur on 15 April 2023.
Alongside our supporters from around the world, we, Sudanese people - men, women, and children, of all ethnic, religious backgrounds and geographic regions of the country are united in our call for peace.
Without immediate intervention Sudan risks loosing the gains made towards democratic civilian transitional leadership built upon the pillars of the most extraordinary popular revolution in recent history whose calls are for peace, freedom and justice.
We denounce in the strongest terms the methods used by the military and paramilitary forces that show blatant disregard for the lives and well-being of Sudanese people and our beloved Sudan.
Please lend your support and join this petition. You can also write to your elected officials demanding the cessation of fighting, life-saving interventions, safe corridors for humanitarian support to affected communities and accountability of the perpetrators. Demand your elected officials #KeepEyesOnSudan and #SilenceTheGuns in Sudan.
The world needs more action towards peace. Stand in solidarity with Sudanese to ensure our peaceful revolution is realised.
