Our veterans and their families are facing an unnecessary and preventable crisis.

On July 30th, 2025, the Partial Claim Act was signed into law to give struggling veteran homeowners a fair chance at saving their homes. This law was intended as a lifeline — allowing veterans to restructure mortgage debt, stabilize their finances, and keep a roof over their families’ heads.

But as of today, the guidelines for this new program have not been released to lenders and servicers. That means veterans cannot apply. Servicers cannot process. And foreclosures are moving forward anyway.

To allow veteran families to lose their homes before they even have the opportunity to access the protections Congress intended is not only unjust — it is un-American.

We call on the Department of Veterans Affairs, Congress, and mortgage servicers to:

Immediately halt all VA foreclosures until the Partial Claim Act is fully implemented and every delinquent mortgage has been reviewed for eligibility.
Ensure clear, rapid communication of program guidelines to all lenders and servicers.
Protect veteran families from losing their homes during this period of transition.
Our nation made a promise to those who served. Rushing them into foreclosure without giving them the chance to access this law is a betrayal — a slap in the face to the men and women who put everything on the line for this country.
