Stop using Kraft paper towels in schools

The Issue

Schools use an estimated 320,000 sheets of Kraft paper towels each school year. These towels are not efficient; they require much more quantity than normal paper towels and take longer to use. This affects not only students and teachers who are forced to use them for cleaning spills and messes but also janitors, making their already demanding job even harder and longer.

Kraft paper towels are not absorbent enough, leading to double or even triple the usage as compared to standard paper towels. This inefficiency not only wastes resources but also increases costs significantly. In an era where schools are constantly looking to cut unnecessary expenses, this is a glaring area that needs attention.

Moreover, the heavy reliance on Kraft paper towels is not environmentally sustainable. Increased usage results in more waste and contributes to the depletion of natural resources. Standard paper towels, which are more effective and often biodegradable or recyclable, offer a better alternative.

Transitioning to more efficient paper towel products will not only improve the work environment for everyone in schools but also promote sustainability and economic savings. Let us advocate for a more practical and eco-friendly solution for schools everywhere. Just having them in so many schools around the US wastes so much.

Sign this petition to urge school administrations to reconsider and shift away from the inefficient use of Kraft paper towels, benefiting the entire school community and the environment.
