The Issue

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION! NO LAWS AROUND THE ALISO CREEK SAND BERM and OUTFLOW!

We do not want any new municipal codes pertaining to the Aliso Creek Beach “Berm” !
The High Tide Ocean Water fills up the creek during big swells and high tides. The majority of this is NOT pollution or Urban RunOff during these tide swings.  When the creek stays filled, stagnate, non oxygenated water creates dangerous bacteria, horrible smell and mosquitoes etc! When the creek is flowing it has less chance of bacteria build up. NO ESTUARY “RESTORATION PROJECT” - Complete waste of time, money, resources and will cause so many more problems!

Also when the creek is too full it causes a public safety hazard and fills the pedestrian tunnel under the Aliso Creek Bridge. Making pedestrians have to cross PCH from the east parking lot to get to the beach which is dangerous. The full creek water can also start to flow north along the beach and can damage homes along the coastline! So being able to dig the creek out whether it be by the public, city public works, and or surfers, body boarders, skimboarders etc. Is just expediting the inevitable. NOT POLLUTING.  This creek has been breaking and been flowing naturally and filling up with ocean water i’m sure for thousands of years. This happens all the time here in South Laguna Beach. The sand moves a lot around these parts of the coastline. Also the “Berm” sand, usually moves on shore from higher tides and waves. Then it is pushed out to sea when the creek berm is breached. (Naturally or by humans). This process repeats itself many times through out the month, week or even day.

Yes there is urban run off, but that issue should be resolved up stream. And blocking the flow of the creek will make more stagnant bacteria filled water! Laguna Beach Ocean Foundation is trying to “Restore” the aliso cree estuary. Well if they were really doing that then They would propose The Ranch and Golf Course to be removed, Both Parking Lots, PCH, The Historic Bridge, and All of the homes up stream. Which is NOT REALISTIC. Just like this insane “Estuary Restoration Project”

They are saying it is Polluting the Ocean. The digging of the sand berm is something that is going to happen regardless either by the city public works or more often than not by natural causes. This breaking of the berm by humans is literally expediting the inevitable as stated earlier.
And one would think that the longer the creek stays stagnant and not flowing the more chances of bacteria build up and little kids playing in that bacteria filled water will happen.  Any regulation being drafted by Laguna Beach City Council will be useless and a waste of local resources and money. Let’s get signatures to show our voice against the individuals who are not educated about this issue. To make sure no law is passed pertaining to the Aliso Creek Beach Sand Berm & NO “Estuary Restoration Project” which is really a “Beautification Project” or SWAMP.

NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP AS A COMMUNITY.  - I wrote this in my own words. I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors, let me know if adjustments need to be made. - thank you
