Here is an update from yesterday. 11/15/23 The Creek was really full from the high tide swing, and big surf we have had. Also we had our first rain of the winter here in SoCal so it added to the amount of water in this creek for sure. A ton of run off from up stream. 

The sand berm as you can see is higher than the back area by the homes. It needed to be dug out. Some people started to dig out the creek and Laguna Beach Park Rangers told individuals not to. But then a call was made to the city public works to show concern for the properties at risk and the public works came out and dug the creek out anyways. � 

To save the homes from being damaged. ��Also it helps to not have the bacteria just sitting in the creek from all the rain we just had. It should flow out to sea as is always does when it rains. Also so the pedestrian tunnel wouldn’t get filled up with water where then people in the back parking lot would have to cross PCH dangerously to get to the beach. 

Bottom line is this creek needs to be dug out to flow if it does not naturally flow in time to prevent the issues above.  There should not be a law saying who can or can not dig out the creek. A compromise would be maybe the city giving a certain time or when the beach is not crowded to dig it out to keep a safer aspect of it.
