Shocking new NHS figures show that over 17,000 cancer patients waited beyond 62-day treatment targets in just three months. These delays to treatment will cost thousands of lives. The waiting times are dangerously high and things continue to get worse.

Cancer will not wait. For every 4 weeks of delay to treatment, there is a 10% reduction in survival rates. We need the new Prime Minister to urgently make a radical intervention and to prioritise fixing the cancer backlog, or else more lives will be lost. Cancer treatment services, particularly radiotherapy, must be invested in and expanded to properly tackle the backlog, reduce waiting times and save more lives.
