Please send this petition to 10 people asking them to sign to strengthen our calls for action to tackle the cancer crisis and the worst treatment waiting times since records began. Shocking new NHS data shows 60,000 people have waited too long for treatment and 10,000 have waited over 3 months. This is an unacceptable cancer disaster that will cost tens of thousands of lives. We need politicians to acknowledge this crisis and every signature on this petition helps strengthen our message.
Leaked figures shown on BBC Newsnight show over 10,000 cancer patients are waiting over 104 days for treatment. These waiting times are dangerously high and show things are getting worse. Co-founder of the #CatchUpWithCancer Campaign Professor Pat Price spoke on Newsnight warning of “the worst cancer crisis”. To us, this is nothing short of a “cancer recession” which is putting the lives of tens of thousands of cancer patients at risk.
Cancer will not wait. For every four weeks of delay to treatment, there is a 10% reduction in survival rates. We need urgent action to prevent further unnecessary cancer deaths.
You can support the #CatchUpWithCancer campaign by sharing this petition 10 people, or more via social media, and asking them to add their signatures, join the campaign and insist the Government acts immediately to tackle the cancer backlog.
We started the #CatchUpWithCancer Campaign to stop other families from losing loved ones prematurely and needlessly to cancer. Over two years on, the Government has failed to reverse the damage of COVID on cancer care and waiting times have gotten worse and worse. We need to shout louder. Please consider sharing this petition so more people join the campaign and the Government hears our message loud and clear!
