The cancer backlog is still unsolved. But now, record waiting times in cancer care and a new Omicron variant mean the NHS is under even more pressure. We are going into winter facing what oncologists are calling "the biggest cancer crisis ever". Recent National Audit Office figures show that, as a result of the pandemic, there could be as many as 60,000 missing cancer patients who have not had treatment and 740,000 missed urgent cancer referrals. Unfortunately, at our event earlier this week we heard from cancer experts who thought this number could now have reached over a million. The situation is rapidly getting worse and cancer must not be forgotten. Frontline cancer staff are already being redeployed to other parts of the health service, reducing capacity in cancer care, and making it harder to catch up on the backlog.

We need our MPs to call on the Secretary of State for Health to give this crisis the attention it deserves. Please use our email you MP tool to ask your local MP to add their name to our cross-party letter. Please share the link with your friends and family asking them to email too.

Every signature counts and we need as many as we can to convince the Government to act urgently on this issue.
