My service dog Ashes, according to his microchip, still has me listed as the owner. If La Plata county Humane Society actually adopted him out, the information on his microchip was never updated.  It is illegal to have him rechipped.

I'm concerned about what may have truly happened to him.  

Home Again has recommended I contact local law enforcement to report him missing.  I've already made it known to my public defender who is familiar with the many legal difficulties my dog and I experienced while living outside and getting asked to move with citations several times.

I need closure.  Did he actually get rehomed?  Is he still living?  If so my family wants to see him again.  I do not want to suffer any further from retaliation measures like this empty promise that was made.  "If I find a place to live for my children to come home to, I can have him returned to my care,"- made by Chris who is the boss.  As I was preparing to move into transitional housing, I called to inquire about Ashes, and was rudely informed he was already adopted out, during the exact time I was given a verbal promise of his return.
