The Issue

As a British taxpayer, the involvement of our entities in international conflicts that do not concern us is deeply troubling. The UK Government should stand as a beacon for peace and diplomacy rather than allowing British manufactured weapons to fuel wars. This is particularly true in the case of UAV Engines Limited, a British company involved in the production and sale of warfare equipment to India.

The sale of these weapons is not just a transaction – it signifies an endorsement of the escalating tensions and conflicts between India and Pakistan. As citizens, we cannot stand idly by while our hard-earned taxes indirectly support violence and despair. Instead, we need to urge our government to prioritize peace and help mediate these conflicts towards peaceful resolutions.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the UK is one of the major arms exporters to India. These sales contribute to a cycle of violence, which only serves to exacerbate the hostility between India and Pakistan. The long-standing conflict has resulted in numerous casualties and continues to affect millions of innocent lives.

Our moral values as a nation should reflect in our international dealings. Allowing the export of weapons to conflict zones only tarnishes our reputation and perpetuates the suffering of countless individuals on both sides of the conflict. By suspending these sales, we can take a stand for peace and encourage diplomatic discourse rather than warfare.

I urge you to sign this petition to stop the sale of British manufactured weapons to India. Together, we can call upon the UK Government to take meaningful action to promote peace instead of conflict.
