WELL-TYPE PRISONS ARE AN ATTACK ON OUR RIGHT TO RESIST
They aim to make every form of oppression and violation of rights legitimate.
They seek to suffocate revolutionaries and faith in revolution, to deepen ideological siege, to legitimise imperialist fascist terror and attacks.
If revolutionaries could not be subdued, they had to be destroyed.
If F-Type isolation was not enough, isolation had to be deepened and revolutionary prisoners driven mad. Well-Types were planned accordingly. From their architecture to their electronic systems, every detail was turned into a weapon of siege and deepened isolation.
WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF WELL-TYPE PRISONS?
Imperialism sought salvation from wells in order to maintain the siege, deepen isolation, and ultimately destroy revolutionaries and revolutionary ideology.
- They banned the sun. Cells were built facing north so they would not see sunlight.
- In three-storey Well-Type prisons, the lowest cells never see the sun. Prisoners on the second floor see very little sunlight.
- Banning the sun in prisons has been a weapon of fascism since 1984.
- Fence wire was installed on windows so cells would remain without air.
- Fence wire forms the foundation of the Well-Type attack.
- They banned the sound of human voices, the voices of comrades, in order to drive prisoners mad.
- Electronic doors were installed so prisoners would not even see guards.
- Prisoners were turned into their own wardens.
- If the electronic system fails, prisoners remain trapped in cells.
- If a fire breaks out, prisoners will burn alive.
- The right to ventilation is limited to one hour per day.
- Prisoners are locked in cells for 23 hours and allowed outside alone for 1 hour.
- Ventilation yards have 8-metre-high walls and are covered with wire cages.
- Because there is no ventilation, it is impossible to dry laundry.
- When you go to ventilation, you cannot return early to your cell.
- If you need the toilet or it rains, they confiscate your ventilation right.
- Because there is no ventilation, you must keep your garbage inside the cell.
- When you stretch your arms in the middle of the cell, you hit the objects around you.
- Punishment cells legally limited to 20 days are intended to be used for life.
- Prisoners are mostly held in single cells.
- There are cameras inside cells.
- Guards wear body cameras.
All these tortures and rights violations aim at one thing: AN ATTACK ON THE RIGHT TO RESIST.
So far 40 revolutionary prisoners were sent back to the non-isolation prisons due to their months long hunger strike resistance.
