The Issue

We call on Singapore authorities and ticketing platforms to take urgent action against unfair ticket scalping practices.

Concert tickets in Singapore are increasingly being bought out within seconds—not by genuine fans, but by automated bots and organised scalping services often advertised as “Help-To-Buy (HTB)” systems. These groups then resell tickets at heavily inflated prices, making live events inaccessible to ordinary fans.

This is not just frustrating—it is unfair, exploitative, and has been happening for years with little effective deterrence.

The problem
We are seeing :

  • Automated bots purchasing large volumes of tickets instantly during official sales
  • “HTB” services openly advertising guaranteed ticket access at inflated prices
  • Genuine fans being locked out of ticket sales within seconds
  • Secondary market prices far above original face value
  • Weak enforcement against organised scalping behaviour

As a result, real fans are forced to either miss out entirely or pay unfair resale prices.

Why this matters
Concerts and live events should be accessible based on fair demand—not technological advantage or financial exploitation.

Current systems allow :

  • Artificial scarcity created by bots
  • Profit-driven ticket hoarding
  • Loss of trust in official ticketing platforms
  • Unequal access for ordinary consumers

This undermines fairness in Singapore’s live entertainment industry.

What we are asking for
We urge Singapore authorities (including CCCS, CASE, and relevant ministries) and ticketing platforms to implement stronger protections, including :

1. Ban ticket-buying bots
Make automated ticket purchasing tools illegal and enforce penalties against their use.

2. Stronger platform anti-bot systems
Require ticketing companies to implement stronger bot detection, queue protection, and identity verification.

3. Strict enforcement against scalping services
Take action against organised “HTB” resale operations and commercial ticket hoarding.

4. Fair resale rules
Introduce resale price caps close to face value or regulate resale platforms to prevent excessive markups.

5. Protection for genuine fans
Ensure ticket allocation systems prioritise real individuals, not automated systems or bulk buyers.

This is already affecting thousands of fans
Every major concert sale now follows the same pattern :
tickets disappear instantly, resale listings appear at inflated prices, and genuine fans are priced out.

This issue has gone on for years without sufficient enforcement. It is time for stronger action.
