We Need Immediate Action to Stop The War Against Women

The Issue

The War Against Women takes place next door in our communities and workplaces and places of worship, in police stations, family courts and criminal courts, in government offices, in the media, and in how those of us who are men fail to prioritize women’s lives.

The targets of the war against women are rarely able to access the resources and support they need because ours is a government that spends over $35 billion annually on the blow-things-up wars, while women’s shelters and second stage housing projects are forced to hold bake sales and raffles.

2022 was the most dangerous year to date for women in the land known as Canada. A woman was murdered every other day almost always by a man. The Canadian Femicide Observatory lists 184 victims of femicide in 2022. The thousands of Indigenous women and girls murdered or disappeared across the country in recent decades are victims of what a national inquiry called a "Canadian genocide.”

We require a massive commitment from all levels of society, including government, to ending male violence against women and children.
