The proposed "Avemore Data Park" Data Center Campus in Villa Rica, Georgia, represents a $5 billion to $7 billion investment that spans over 428 acres along Hwy 61, Hickory Level Road, and South Van Wert Road. The campus is planned for the historic Williams Family Farm property at 55 and 63 Goldworth Road. The construction of such a facility brings with it numerous potential problems that could drastically affect the quality of life for local residents and the environment.

Environmental Impact and Resource Strain

Data centers are known for their high water and energy consumption. As they run 24/7, these facilities can draw upon local resources relentlessly, straining the local power grids to their limits. This can result in increased utility costs for nearby residents as power usage is prioritized for the data center. Additionally, the excessive water usage can threaten the local water supply, impacting both residents and local wildlife.

Pollution and Quality of Life Concerns

The development also poses a threat in terms of noise, air, and light pollution to residents in close proximity to these data centers. The constant hum of cooling systems, the emission from generators, and the bright lights necessary for security and operations can disrupt the tranquility of our community. 

The Long-term Consequences

Beyond the initial construction phase set for 2028, the long-term presence of the campus will alter the landscape of Villa Rica permanently. The transformation of peaceful residential areas into industrial ones brings concerns regarding property values, increased traffic, water supply, and potential health risks associated with prolonged exposure to pollution for the residents near by. As well as the impact it could have on wildlife.

Demanding Cancellation of Data Center

We must urge those in power to reconsider the development and cancel the Avemore Data Park completely while placing bans on any future data center projects.
