The regulatory body in the UK (General Medical Council or GMC), responsible for regulating medical practice, has for many years lost sight of its supposed purpose to protect patients from deliberately negligent medical practice. Instead, it has become a rogue organisation, incompetent and out of control, which appears to be pursuing doctors in a frequently arbitrary, often racist, manner. In the meantime genuine patient concerns and patient injuries, are neglected. This approach diverts attention away from patient care and harm to patients, but instead focuses on vague phrases like 'probity', 'honesty' and 'bringing the medical profession into disrepute'. These allegations, which could be made against any doctor, allows the GMC to do more or less what it wants. It seems to want to assume that all doctors are guilty of malpractice, unless proven otherwise, indeed even if proven otherwise. Our petition calls for the immediate resignation of the Chief Executive of the GMC, and all the current  council members, as well as the entire senior management team. They have all lost the confidence of the medical profession and patients, in their ability to fairly and effectively regulate doctors and protect patients in the UK.
