Stop the Systemic Exploitation of Medical Students at Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences

Stop the Systemic Exploitation of Medical Students at Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences
The Issue
We, the medical students of Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences [RIMS], demand immediate and transparent action against the ongoing exploitation, harassment, and unethical practices being perpetuated within our institution. It is time to put an end to the bribery, baseless fines, and abuse of power that have plagued our college for far too long.
Why This Is Important:
Medical students dedicate years of their lives to become future doctors, serving society with knowledge, compassion, and commitment. However, at Raipur Institute of Medical Sciences [RIMS], our journey is being sabotaged by corrupt practices and authoritarian abuse that directly affect our mental health, finances, academic success, and dignity.
Here are just some of the many injustices we face on a daily basis:
- Bribes for Basic Rights: Students are being forced to pay bribes just to get their examination forms submitted—a basic academic requirement. This is blatant corruption and extortion of future healthcare professionals.
- Gate Pass Harassment: Despite all students being legally adults (18+), we are harassed for simply entering or exiting the college, forced to beg for “gate passes” as though we are prisoners and not autonomous individuals. This system is a form of psychological control, not discipline.
- Fines for Compassion: Students have been fined for feeding stray dogs on campus—an act of kindness being punished as if it were a crime. These inhumane fines are entirely baseless and reflect a lack of empathy and basic decency from the administration.
- Fines for Speaking Freely: Students are also being fined or intimidated for speaking to guards in a so-called ‘improper’ manner, with no clear guidelines on what constitutes such behavior. This is an abuse of vague authority, designed to suppress normal communication and create a culture of fear.
- Unqualified Authority: A Microbiology professor [Mr. Vivek Chauhan], who is not even an MBBS graduate, has been given unjustified authority to teach as well as harass MBBS students, interns, and doctors. This individual operates with impunity, enabled by the college’s Management under the guidance of the CEO/Executive Director [Mr. K K Wadhwa], who is the root of the bribery and authoritarian culture within the institution.
- Silent Enablers in Leadership: The Dean and Chairman, rather than protecting students, choose to turn a blind eye. Their inaction allows this culture of fear and exploitation to thrive because it saves money and profits off student suffering through fines and bribery.
This petition is not just about college rules—it is about justice, student safety, ethical governance, and the future of medicine in our country.
We are calling for:
1. An independent inquiry into the corruption and harassment practices within the college.
2. Immediate removal of individuals found guilty of abuse of power or corrupt practices, including the CEO and the unqualified professor.
3. A public statement and apology from the college administration acknowledging these wrongdoings.
4. The establishment of a new student rights body with some actual power to ensure future transparency and protection for all students.
5. The elimination of arbitrary fines, bribery-based systems, and the gate pass harassment policy.
We urge students, parents, alumni, medical professionals, and human rights advocates to sign this petition and help us bring justice and reform to our institution.
We refuse to be silent.
We refuse to be exploited.
We are future doctors, not victims.
Sign and share. Change starts here.
