Stop the State Aid Funding Crisis in Toms River

The Issue

To the Toms River Board of Education,

We, the undersigned residents of Toms River, Beachwood, Pine Beach, and South Toms River, respectfully request that you consider a referendum vote to permit the local municipalities to increase taxes beyond the 2% cap in order to balance the budget and make up for the state aid deficit.

As you are aware, Toms River has been facing significant challenges with the state aid deficit in recent years. This deficit has resulted in a significant reduction in funding for our schools, which has had a negative impact on our students, teachers, and community.

We believe that it is time to take action to address this issue and ensure that our schools have the resources they need to provide our children with a high-quality education. We understand that increasing taxes beyond the 2% cap is a difficult decision, but we believe that it is necessary to maintain the quality of education in Toms River.

Therefore, we request that you consider a referendum vote to allow the local municipalities to increase taxes beyond the 2% cap. This would give our community the opportunity to decide whether we are willing to pay more in taxes to support our schools and ensure that our children receive the education they deserve.

We thank you for your consideration of this important issue and urge you to take action to address the state aid deficit and support our schools.

Respectfully,
