Happy New Year, Deer Supporters! Writing on this glorious first morning of 2024 with a quick update. Please know that we have read every one of your emails asking for the status of the formal request we sent to Charlton Bonham, Director of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, to deny the Conservancy's application to slaughter all mule deer on Catalina Island. We get it! It is stressful to wait for an answer from government on a decision that will have such a big impact on our lives. That said, we needed to give the CDFW time to review and consider our request and we thank everyone for the patience. We have tried to respond to every email individually, but for those of you who have not yet heard back, here's the quick update: We asked for a response from Director Bonham or a designee by the end of the day tomorrow so we will have news for you either way THIS Wednesday. We remain optimistic, but in the case of no news or bad news, we'll be sharing very important action items with you then. Keep an eye on your inboxes and all the best to you and yours in 2024!
