UPDATE - All, today in the town of Avalon, the Catalina Island Conservancy that has unilaterally decided to slaughter all our Catalina deer without the science to back up its decision, put out the word that it thinks our resolve has weakened and that the storm of public outcry we’ve seeded has come and gone:
“It’s all blown over,” she said.
The Conservancy is dead wrong. We are just getting started.

A QUICK REVIEW OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS - Since we started the Coalition just a few short weeks ago, look at all we’ve accomplished together:
> PETITION - We’ve grown past 11,000 voices strong, and know that 2300 Catalina Islanders — more than half of all registered voters on the Island — are vehemently opposed to the Conservancy’s killing plan because it "doesn’t like managing hunting" (they let that slip at the recent City Council meeting);
> BROKE THE STORY – While the Conservancy tried to keep their plan a secret, we alerted the L.A. Times which started a landslide of coverage;
> COALITION – We’ve built a powerful coalition spanning island residents, business owners, hunters, animal rights organizations, attorneys, visitors, and others who care;
> STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS – We’ve had important meetings with public officials and decision-makers at local and state levels of government;
> LETTER DRIVES – Public officials and decision-makers have now received thousands of letters, and we need to keep them coming (see #1 below);
> LAUNCHED A FACEBOOK GROUP – And we’re asking you to join now to stay connected.
AND, WE HAVE MOVED THE NEEDLE. We have it on excellent authority that our voices have been heard at the HIGHEST LEVELS and have thrown a wrench into the Conservancy’s plan to fast-track this permit. Take a bow—but we mustn’t stop now.
