This is not only a campaign, but also a personal mission that arose out of deep concerns for public health and the cruel reality faced by innocent lambs. The demand for red meat is causing serious health problems, including stroke, heart attacks, obesity, and cancer. So why are we taking innocent young lives for that? The act of slaughtering, even when deemed 'humane', involves the unnecessary killing of young beings who deserve respect and a chance to live. Slaughtering lambs drives the cycle of demand for red meat, contributing to the deterioration of health on a national scale. Yet, these gentle creatures have the capacity to be commercially valuable without their lives being taken away. Lambs provide wool and milk, important commodities in our economy. Furthermore, compassionate tourism centered around these animals can also contribute significantly to local economies, without compromising their lives and wellbeing. The UK slaughters around 15 million lambs each year, a shocking statistic which needs change (Source: Compassion in World Farming). Their lives should be advocated for and their potential in other areas of commercialization recognized.
