Stop the Shooting of Foxes Across the UK – Demand a National Ban on Inhumane Culling

The Issue

Who is affected?

Foxes—along with their cubs—are being shot across the UK by pest control companies, often hired by private landowners, golf clubs, and councils. This is happening secretly, with no community input, and little accountability. Residents, animal lovers, and local rescue groups like Lulubells Animal Rescue are horrified to discover that peaceful wildlife, including nursing mothers and young cubs, are being killed in their own habitats.

What is at stake?

If this continues, we risk losing vital members of our ecosystem to outdated, cruel practices. Foxes play an important role in biodiversity and pest control, and their killing sets a dangerous precedent for how we treat urban and rural wildlife. Without change, more animals will suffer, silent culls will blindside more communities, and children growing up in towns and cities will lose the chance to connect with the wildlife around them.

Why is now the time to act?

This issue is growing—and so is public awareness. The recent outcry over foxes being shot at Enfield Golf Club is just one of many similar cases across the UK. We must act now to demand a national shift toward humane, non-lethal wildlife management. With the right pressure on DEFRA and local authorities, we can end these silent culls and protect the foxes that so many people care about. The time for compassionate change is now.

Sign the petition to call for:

A ban on shooting foxes, especially during cubbing/breeding season

  • A review of all lethal fox control practices in the UK
  • Mandatory use of humane, non-lethal alternatives first
  • Transparency for communities when culling is planned
Foxes deserve better. So do the people who care about them.
