Hello!

I want to reach out and thank you all for signing the petition to stop the exceptionally cruel Shenandoah County Fair pig scramble!  Together we've reached 5,000 signatures! You have joined me in saying "no more" to an activity where children 3-8-years-old chase, frighten, catch, and drag sentient baby pigs to a pen before bringing them home.  Adults cheering and celebrating as this tragic event plays out in front of them. You were in agreement that nonanimal events like a cake/cookie walk or talent show offered less animal suffering, and greater community participation!

Pigs can feel pain and fear like we can. They're smarter than dogs and as smart as three-year-old children.  Kids like to be rewarded when they carry out acts of kindness and dragging scared baby pigs isn't kind! Adults watching and cheering isn't a good look. 

Kids can learn about animals with a book, online with a trusted adult, or with visiting a sanctuary that doesn't breed animals or make them perform. They treat them with kindness, respect, and make sure they receive good veterinary care!

Thank you again so much for signing and sharing the petition! Unfortunately, I still haven't heard back from the Shenandoah County Fair, so protests will continue against their 2026 egregious pig scramble. I'll be sending that information soon in an update, so please be on the lookout!
