Our latest film Origin — A Journey to Find the Source of Windermere is NOW LIVE on YouTube.
This film exposes what’s happening to England's largest freshwater lake, sets out how we protect it for future generations, and marks a defining moment in time for Windermere.
Please can you share it with your followers, friends, family, colleagues, neighbours — anyone and everyone. Every share and every view on the film helps us reach more people and drive change.
Following sustained public pressure, an independent engineering study is now under way to determine how to eliminate all sewage discharges into Windermere. Paid for by United Utilities and due for completion in July 2026, it will deliver a clear roadmap, detailed economic appraisal, and the environmental case for ending sewage pollution in our lake.
This is a pivotal moment. Together, we have shifted the national conversation and we now have a real opportunity to end sewage pollution in Windermere once and for all. We must increase the pressure and demand that the Government acts, putting our communities and the environment above profit, and protecting a basic human right.
Alongside the film launch, we have also launched a new petition calling for legislative change to eliminate the discharge of any sewage, treated or untreated, into Windermere. This new ask is important as we want to ensure that Windermere is protected for future generations. This has already received 30,000 signatures in just a week since it went live.
We rely on the donations of our incredibly generous supporters, so we have also launched a new Crowdfunder to help us continue this work. Any donation or support to share this is hugely appreciated.
