Stop the Sale of Plumstead High St Car Park – Protect Our Community and Local Businesses

The Issue

The Issue
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is proposing to sell four of its local car parks, including the much-used and valued car parks in Plumstead High St (Abery St), in Charlton Village (near the Assembly Hall) and Old Dover Road in Blackheath Standard. We believe this decision is short-sighted and risks real and lasting harm to our local economy and community.

Plumstead's small car park was refurbished in 2023, with cycle parking and dedicated disabled parking spaces.  Surely this investment was a recognition of the need of this service for our local community?

Yet, in 2025, the Council has not published any assessment of how this sale would affect residents, local businesses, the elderly, or disabled people who rely heavily on accessible parking. This lack of transparency has caused significant concern among those who depend on the car park every day.

This petition calls on Greenwich Council to pause the sale immediately and to carry out a full, open, and evidence-based impact assessment, developed in partnership with local businesses and the wider community.

Please sign and share this petition to help protect the future of Plumstead High Street businesses and local communities.

This is urgent. We must present the petition to the Council on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.

Your support is greatly appreciated
