“Across an ensemble of tests, we find consistent evidence that the blood lead levels of children residing near the airport are pushed upward by the deposition of leaded aviation gasoline,” lead author Sammy Zahran, a professor of economics at Colorado State University, said in a statement.

People are starting to wake up to this very real issue - hopefully media coverage will bring this to more people's attention. However, we still need to put pressure on decision-makers to accelerate this transition, and reconsider how they route these flights in the meantime until lead is fully phased out.
