Please sign and share our new petition to half Europe’s food waste, before we miss this chance! https://www.change.org/p/let-s-cut-europe-s-food-waste-in-half This will enter into UK law before Brexit, and the government will have to face a fight from us if it wants to go back on this, so this is our last chance to get ambitious targets into UK law. There are about 55 million people in food poverty in Europe - and the food wasted throughout the continent could feed them over 9 times over. The UK government and corporate lobbyists have been trying to water down the drafts of these environmental targets for years, so the EU is our biggest chance of making these changes a reality. This week, This Is Rubbish (the group behind Stop the Rot campaign) and a coalition of other environmental organisations including Friends of the Earth kicked off our campaign by contacting key figures in the European Parliament and Council in support of ambitious targets to cut Europe’s food waste in half by 2030. Already 19 organisations from all across Europe have signed up in support, an opportunity for the UK food waste movement to join up with all the other great movements in a show of unity – we need to build on this huge momentum!
