Sunroad Real Estate, a San Diego, California-based company, is petitioning the Nashville government to rezone the Brentwood Oaks Apartments. They propose to rezone the property from PUD/RM6 (6 units per acre) to SP/RM20-A (20 units per acre). Brentwood Oaks Apartments are located one mile east of Nippers Corner on the south side of Old Hickory Boulevard.

The expansion plan would increase its size from 244 to 558 multi-family units, creating one of Nashville’s largest apartment complexes.

This development has the potential to dramatically impact the local community in a number of ways:

  • Increase traffic on Old Hickory Blvd. and on “cut-through” streets in Myrtlewood Estates, The Highlands and Mountain View.
  • Place additional burden on local infrastructure and zoned schools which are already strained.
  • Destroy forest habitat through the clearing of the forest, removal of the tree canopy, disruption of the stormwater corridor, and destruction of a wetland regulation buffer.
  • Disrupt wildlife, unique species, and migratory birds. The forested areas of Brentwood Oaks are home to a variety of wildlife: Nashville Crayfish, deer, turkeys, armadillos, hawks, turtles, snakes, bobcats, and coyotes among others.
  • Create greater erosion, run-off and flooding and disturb conservation areas.

Help us petition the Nashville Metro Government to SAY NO to this rezoning/expansion plan and keep the 53+ acres of Brentwood Oaks Apartments as a conservation (CO) and medium density residential zone (RM6).
