Stop the relocation of the Dedham Youth Commission from the Dedham High School

Stop the relocation of the Dedham Youth Commission from the Dedham High School
The Issue
We the undersigned would like to advocate for the Dedham Youth Commission to remain in their current space across from the main office. This location is ideal because it allows us easy access to their office for both support and volunteering. Many students go to the Dedham Youth Commission for support in both their academic life and personal lives. The support system of the youth commission gives these students the help they thrive in everyday life. Students are also expected to complete a set amount of service hours all four years of their high school and the Youth Commission has been a great resource for providing volunteer opportunities. DYC has also provided tremendous support for student-led programs during non-school hours. By moving DYC out of the High School, the town and the schools are losing out on tremendous resources that help the youth in the community to thrive in civic engagement as well as mental health support.
During the Board Meeting, it was said that there wasn't enough space in the High School and so they needed to move it. However, the Dedham High School was built for 2100 students, we have 719 Students. That's almost three times less students than what the High School was built for. So there should be more than enough space to keep the DYC in the building. By Signing this petition you are helping the youth of Dedham.
So far I have raised 160 signatures on paper for this cause.
