…what this lovely, peaceful place will be like if the City of Subiaco’s plans for an outdoor events space are approved?
Hello and welcome, especially to those of you who have signed this petition since my last update.
We are really close to reaching 1200 signatures, which is great to see. If you know of anyone who might like to join this campaign, please encourage them to sign.
Although the Civic Precinct project has not been on a Council meeting agenda since April, we are assured that work has continued behind the scenes to consider options which respond to the community feedback.
Public questions asked at the July Council meeting raised some project-related issues, but the staff reply (as noted in the unconfirmed minutes) gave nothing away in terms of how the internal discussions and workshops were progressing, or exactly what options were being considered.
Timing is also uncertain. Staff have simply said the issues will be brought before a “future Council meeting”.
It remains to be seen whether the Council will take heed of the majority view as reported in the feedback analysis and strengthened by this and the other related petition, and abandon the Project altogether.
We live in hope!
I will keep this petition going so I can provide updates as things progress.
