A big thank you for signing my petition to stop the Subiaco Council from redeveloping this tranquil spot in Rokeby Road Subiaco as part of its Civic Precinct project.

We’ve made a good start but there’s more work to do!

If you haven’t already done so, it would be wonderful if you could share this petition amongst your contacts. It doesn’t matter if people don’t live in the area. Everyone is encouraged to sign!

As things stand, the public consultation period will end on 14 December 2025, so not far away.

The Council’s plans show vast swathes of concrete paving in place of green lawn and garden beds; mature trees being removed to install concrete-edged garden beds with concrete benches, and the rose garden being dug up to install a community events space with a stage, lighting and yet more concrete paving for food trucks and the like. 

We already have an outdoor events space 290 metres away in Subiaco Theatre Gardens. We also have Market Square, where community events such as Subi Nights already take place.

If these plans go ahead, our leafy, cool, peaceful oasis will become a hot, barren landscape.
