I am a working-class Canadian, struggling to pay my rising bills. As our national debt soars over 1 Trillion dollars, it is infuriating to see politicians propose a pay raise for themselves. In 2024, they plan on giving themselves an $8,000-$16,000 increase in their already substantial salaries. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Canadians are grappling with an average wage of $67,000 while our politicians believe they deserve more for the job they've been doing. Backbench MPs and Ministers already earn over $200k annually and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earns over $400k (source: Government of Canada official website).

This disparity between the earnings of ordinary citizens and those who represent us is unjustifiable. It's time we let them know that their performance does not warrant such an increase at the expense of taxpayers' money.
